The Reader’s Question

Good Morning Mary,

I do have chronic pain and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I have not tried the natural doctors because they are kind of pricey. I have changed my eating habits and went from 175lbs to 132 in a year.

I’m 50 years old and when I clean my house I’m feeling the inflammation all through my body. I do use doTERRA Essential Oils and their LLV Vitamins for over a year now.

Is there anything you would suggest for me to get rid of this chronic pain or the inflammation?

Nurse Mary’s Response

Hello Pat,

It sounds like you’ve already made some incredible progress, especially with your dietary changes and weight loss – that’s fantastic!

My first suggestion is to look deeper into your diet. Have you done an elimination diet to see what foods could be trigger foods?

For me, gluten and dairy were big triggers. For some people, those are fine, but the culprits might be things like food additives (MSG is a big one) or a sensitivity to things in the “nightshade” family (peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, paprika). Eliminating common inflammatory foods for a period and slowly reintroducing them can help you pinpoint your personal triggers.

In terms of natural support, the following herbs and supplements are well-known to help with inflammation:

  • Turmeric – Curcumin (the active ingredient in Turmeric) has anti-inflammatory properties that can improve pain, reduce asthma symptoms and improve movement in people with osteoarthritis.
  • Magnesium – reduces inflammation, supports cartilage health, strengthens bones, and can alleviate pain from conditions like arthritis by managing nerve signals and improving mobility.
  • Fish oilCod liver oil supplementation offers benefits for heart, brain, bone, and immune health due to its rich content of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA) and vitamins A and D, helping reduce inflammation, lower triglycerides, support strong bones by aiding calcium absorption, and improve vision, though it’s essential to manage dosage due to vitamin A & D content and consult a doctor.

Finally, here are some of our customer favorite natural remedies that have been known to help with inflammation

I hope this helps!
