I watch Shea Underwood often and have adopted his serve style. I’m still perfecting it and gradually getting more accurate with placement of the serve but I really like it. Hoping you like it as well.

Here is the short version of his serve and I’ll put the element details below the video for you.

Want to Serve Faster? #Picleball

  • If you let your wrist lag behind in the serving motion and snap it forward at the point of contact. Your paddle head will move extremely quick, which will make your service faster.
  • If you deliberately slow down your backswing and move the paddle away from your body, you will naturally coil up your hips, which will make your serves faster.
  • If you put the heel pad of your hand on bevel three and your index knuckle on bevel 4, you will use a semi-western grip, which will make your serves faster.
  • If you stare at the ball and avoid picking your head up. When you make contact, you will hit the ball closer to The Sweet Spot of your paddle, which will make your serves faster.
  • If you keep your torso upright and your knees bent, you will generate power from the ground into your shot, which will make your serves faster.
  • If you stand a few steps behind the Baseline, you can hit the ball harder without it going out of bounds, which will make your service faster.
  • If you use a low to high motion and brush up through the ball as you hit it, you will generate Heavy top speed, which will keep your serve in the court.

Since your serves are not faster, if you follow Shea Underwood on social media, you will get weekly paddle giveaways and daily pickleball tips, which will make your serves faster 🙂
